Monthly Minutes for April 2010

Meeting Date: April 15, 2010 Start Time: 8:15 pm

Minutes from last meeting accepted by: 1st____________ 2nd_______________

Treasurer’s Report: Total club balance is $17,049.46 and is comprised of $3,422.06 in Handicap Outing funds and $13,627.40 in Regular Club Funds. There are no funds in either 6 pound lunker pools.

  • Federation Report:

  • 6 man team tournament: Only 6 man team members and alternates are allowed to pre-fish

  • There is no off limits

  • Al Purdy reminds all 6 man team tournament participants of the “no lead” rule in Vermont. No lead devices under ½ ounce is allowed. If using a lead jig head, the jig must not be under 1 1/2 “ long. If participant gets nailed by Vermont, the days weight will be lost.

  • Al also informed us that we will be notified, at the next Fed meeting, the date/time & location of the 6 man team pre-tournament meeting

  • Bruce explained that the new Policies and Procedures document will be posted to the Fed website and that all anglers are urged to review the document. Special emphasis was placed on the “GPS rule”: if a non-boater takes a boater to a spot, the boater is prohibited from GPS’ing that spot at the risk of disqualification.

Old Business: Rob Curtis brought the club up-to-date on the Bergen Bassmaster’s Facebook page and advised that we now have 45 friends. The club, through the facebook page, was contacted by a Cub Scout leader who is looking for Bergen to assist him in helping his Cub Scouts to achieve their Merit Badges in fishing. Rob also let us know that we’ve been challenged by a New York State club to a fishing tournament. More to follow. Finally, the motion to amend the 6 pound pool, proposed by Frank Freguletti was voted on and defeated.

New Business: Members are reminded that the year-end club dinner will be held on November 12, 2010. The treasurer needs to get a deposit check sent out to Biaggio’s. New observers were advised that they, too, can sell raffle tickets. In a bit of sad news, Alan Goldman has requested a leave of absence due to health issues. All of us wish a speedy recovery to Alan and look forward to him rejoining the club at the soonest. Mark Scocco advised the members that Greenwood Lake has already instituted a $27.50 fee for all boaters beginning this year. This is a change in that the fee was originally going to be instituted in 2011. Pat Van Wettering let the members know that Connecticut has changed the out-of-state license fee from $80.00 to $55.00. He indicated that Connecticut will refund the $25.00 difference that the early birds (me included) paid by applying it to the cost of their 2011 license. Due to several membership openings, the club voted in Chris O’Connor and Dave Lipari as new full-time members. Welcome to the club, Chris and Dave. We’re glad to have you.

Tournament Committee: Due to scheduling conflicts at Lake Champlain, the Tournament Committee has decided to move the club’s 2010 Classic site from Champlain to the Susquehanna Flats. The Tournament committee drew for the Lillinoah tournament on May 15, 2010 from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Please note that we will not be launching at the Steel Bridge launch.
